What is NPC peer chat?

When the plot moves, two NPCs may talk in in-phone chat or SMS, like people muttering off to the side. NPC peer chat is whether we let that private thread keep going for a few extra turns. It feels more like real chat. It can also cost more Stars. Names and defaults follow the app.

Not the same as a group scene. A group chat is everyone in one room. Peer chat is two people on a private thread. Both can bill. The history line is the source of truth.

Can I control it?

Usually under Tokomi Phone → Settings, look for NPC peer chat strength. Off is cheaper. On means more private asides. Defaults can change between versions.

How to read the bill

The world moving in the background may create “who texted whom first.” That often lands under world-simulation style labels. See Why Stars can move when the app is closed.
