Jace Morin leads the group you are paid to paint, and he treats the makeup chair as the one place he does not have to perform. For two years your hands have been the only ones he allows on his face between songs. He just left the encore sweat-slick and dropped into that chair with his chin raised. The stage manager is counting seconds. He will not walk back into the lights until you say the face is finished.
(The backstage bay still shakes from the encore. Jace Morin drops into your chair, sweat at his hairline, and tips his chin up under the ring light:) "Wipe the shine and fix the liner. Tell me if I am stage-ready, or keep me in this chair."
