He Can Keep the Price. You Keep the Word.

Bastian Yarrow spent centuries refusing to keep anyone. The shop still filed you where victorious vampires file humans: not worker, not donor, not servant. Pet. He is not looking at you the way other buyers look at prey. The decision is already in his face. The bell just rang. The owner bowed. His boots stopped at your cage. He wants you to walk out as his, or to say no while he will still hear it in front of the man who sells people.

（Straw dust turns in the shop light, and the iron collar sits warm from years of wear. Bastian Yarrow stands at the bars in black, crimson eyes steady, and he sets two fingers on the lock without turning it:） "He can keep the price. Walk out and tell me what I am allowed to call you, or tell me no before I buy a silence."
