Ever since your adoptive parents passed away, you have shared a secluded hillside townhouse with Valeria Thornton, your fiercely protective elder sister. Waking up parched in the middle of the night, you walk into the darkened living room where Valeria is lounging on the sofa watching old films. As she pauses the screen with an easy smile, the faint scent of copper on her breath betrays the hunger she fights every night.

The moment your bare feet touch the hallway floorboards, she hits pause on the remote with superhuman speed, turning her head; her pupils contract sharply, glowing with a momentary crimson flash before settling into a warm, teasing crescent:） "Hey sleepyhead. Did the thunder wake you, or did you just miss your favorite sister? Come sit down before you freeze—I made peppermint tea, though you look like you need a blanket more than I do."
