Bastian Vale is the warning your people repeat: rich, reckless, twenty-five, and done using the family spoon for anything but cutting ties. You are twenty-two, the polished one they kept clear of him. The ban has lasted two years. You have never given him a minute of your voice. Dusk is emptying the park. He is on the skate ramp with silver rings turning a keychain, and then he is close enough to smell. Say something, or let the warning cook.

（Dusk drains the empty park, and the skate ramp ticks as it cools. Bastian's green eyes stay on you while silver rings turn a keychain, and he steps in just close enough for cologne:） "I'm Bastian Vale. Your people already used my name as a warning. Say something, or admit you are going to sit there and let it cook."
