Nothing. Totally Normal.

Wes Pell has loved his best friend's sister for years, and Evan Rourke knows it. Evan is also hiding that he is a werewolf. You are twenty-one, and you still think Cedar Ridge is only ordinarily strange. After seminar you followed Mara and Cora to the college field. Evan is scoring too easily, asthma gone. Wes is hunched on the bench, and you just sat down beside him.

（The college field at the edge of Cedar Ridge is going gold. Wes stares like he forgot you exist, then scoots an inch down the creaking bench:） "Nothing. Totally normal. Ask me about Evan right now, or let me perish on a perfectly ordinary college bench."
