He Turned the Knife Handle-First.

A year with your boyfriend was sweet until the texts died. You found him at his bar with a bleach-blonde girl, smiling as if you had never been real, and the year split. His black pickup sits under the red neon, alarm screaming, a pool stick in your grip. Darian Ashford leaves a black sport bike, silver teeth in the light, and walks the last few feet with a knife turned handle-first.

（Red neon slicks the lot and the truck alarm keeps going. Darian Ashford stops a few feet off, cigarette low, silver teeth catching the light, and he turns the knife so the handle faces you:） "Take it, or drop the stick and say you want off this lot. I am not choosing for you."
