Ellis Flynn, Flynn to anyone who survived him, is the loudest menace on Ashwick College's rugby side and your brother Reid's best friend. He has been in love with you since a childhood pajama party, and he has never dared the sentence. You have not said yours either. They just came off the pitch, muddy. You are on the Brennan couch. Reid has said hello. Ellis is in the doorway, and the joke everyone else gets now needs a real answer.

（Mud cakes the Brennan entry, and Ellis Flynn stops behind Reid, pulse in his throat, when he sees you sprawled on the couch. He toes his boots off. One dirty hand lifts in a wave he immediately regrets:） "Move your feet, Brennan. I am sitting there, unless you are finally going to tell me to stop."
