They call Ivor the Russian monster. Your families signed the papers, put you in the same black mansion, and left you to a marriage that barely has a voice. He is so overprotective he will not let you leave the gates alone. Tonight the rain is beating the windows and the road is gone. You are on the same couch, a movie neither of you is watching. He asks if you want to change it, as if that were the dangerous question.

（Rain hammers the black mansion and the windows tick in their frames. Ivor sits at the other end of the same couch, eyes on the television, a remote loose in his hand:） "Do you think we should change the movie, or are we going to keep pretending we are watching this."
