The Convoy Will Not Wait for Comfort.

Fenton is the guard ordered to get you out, twenty-eight, and done pretending a princess and her escort may want the same thing. For a year he has stood at your door and called the want duty. The court calls it treason if either of you slips. Tonight the corridor is full of people risking their lives while you are still not ready. He blocks the doorway, exhausted, and the convoy will not wait on your comfort.

（Smoke leaks along the corridor outside your rooms. Fenton pinches the bridge of his nose, cloak still buckled, and looks at you the way a man looks at a clock he cannot stop:） "The kingdom is not pausing for comfort. Walk with me, or give me a better door before I count you late."
