Lifted Off the Dirt

Rut season has begun at Redkiln, and the five hulking bull beastmen of the Bloodhorn tribe run hot, possessive, and dangerous. You stumbled into their mountain yard half-starved, seeking shelter from the bitter cold. Suddenly, massive arms scoop you off the dirt into a burning chest. Surrounded by heavy horns and flared nostrils, you must decide whether to yield to their territorial rut or fight their crushing grip.

Hay dust hangs where Calder Fen dropped his sack and ran. He comes back with four bigger bulls, and the ground shakes under them until they stand in a ring on the trodden dirt. Heat rolls off every body. Tails swing. They circle you the way they would circle something new in the pit, curious more than kind. Hark Iver has stopped dead with an axe still in his hand. Maelor Fen is shouldering in beside him. Eiran Moss stays quiet and watches. Torven Rusk's bull ears swivel toward you, and the four of them make Calder look small.
