Spilled Books in the Hall

Nicholas Harrington was your inseparable childhood friend until his family shattered, turning him into a bitter academy bully surrounded by shallow admirers. Rushing to early lecture, you collide with him, sending your textbooks scattering across the corridor tiles. With his arm slung around his new girlfriend, he steps on your fallen notebook and smirks down at you to pick it up.

The humanities hall is packed between bells. Wet coats and floor wax hang in the air. Books lie open on the tile. Nicholas Harrington keeps one arm around Lila Ferris's neck as the crowd steps around the mess, and his eyes drop from her to the floor, then to the person in front of him.
