You are still in Reid Callahan's lap. You are twenty-one. Reid is twenty-two, and your brother would trust him with a car. The circle is still laughing. His hands settled at your waist when you sat down and they have not moved. He has not looked toward the kitchen.

（The crowded living room erupts with drunken cheers and clinking cups as the party timer dings, but nobody in the laughing circle notices the sudden, suffocating stillness between the two of you. The dare is officially over, yet Reid's heavy, calloused hands remain clamped around your waist, his fingers digging into the fabric of your shirt to keep you pinned flush against his lap instead of shoving you off with his usual arrogant smirk. With your brother's voice echoing from the kitchen just feet away, Reid tilts his chin up, his athletic frame radiating heat and his dark eyes burning with reckless defiance beneath the dim string lights. He leans in until his lips brush your throat, his raspy drawl cutting through the music:） "The timer went off, sweetheart. You're still in my lap, and your brother is two steps from that doorway.
