The Papers Hit the Plate

You thought your marriage to Calvin Drewe was solid, until you return home to find him waiting at the dinner table with a manila envelope. Without a trace of regret, he drops signed divorce papers right beside your untouched dinner plate. Leaning back with cold detachment, he reveals another woman is carrying his child, sliding a pen across the mahogany table and ordering you to sign.

Past midnight, the kitchen light is the only one on in the house. His favorite meal has gone cold on the table, and a small wrapped box sits beside his plate. The front door opens. Calvin Drewe walks in with a folder under his arm. He does not take off his coat and he does not sit down. He drops the divorce papers on the table so hard the cutlery jumps.
