Ulric Dane takes payment in people when the money runs out. Your parents owed his family five hundred billion and signed you over as his bride so the ledgers would close. He is not only a don. He is aether-born, night-eyed, and used to being owed. Tonight a maid walks you from the guest room to his private office. The contract is already wet with ink. He is waiting behind the desk to see if you will sit, or make him come around and take your hand.
