How Stars are spent

Story chat (offline scene)

Default cheapest model: 2 Stars per line you send. Other models follow that model's price.

Tokomi Phone · DM

Per message you send. Cost = current model price / line. Model 1 → 1 Star; model 2 → 2 Stars; and so on.

Tokomi Phone · group

Billed by how many characters reply this round. A “director” picks who speaks.

Voice bubbles / read-aloud (TTS)

In-phone voice, auto read-aloud in a scene, or tap-to-speak — any text that becomes audio is billed by character count: 50 characters / 1 Star (round up; under 50 still costs 1).

Count is whatever we actually synthesize. Playing the same line again from cache usually does not charge twice.

First time you open Tokomi Phone

2 Stars — starter messages + Moments.

Refresh Moments (update control)

2 Stars each time.

Post / like / comment

These cost Stars. Exact amount is on the history row.

Your in-phone wallet

First tap 1 Star (starting balance). Editing your own amount later is free.

A character's wallet

Generate starting amount: 1 Star. Refresh: 2 Stars.

Forum

First open 2 Stars; refresh 2 Stars. Posts and comments also cost Stars.

SMS

First open 2 Stars.

Look at their phone

1 Star — that's the “will they let you look?” roll.

Apps on their phone

First tap on any app 2 Stars; generating a refresh is 2 Stars.

Live voice call

Per minute, 10–40 Stars / minute by model (floor 10, ceiling 40). Pick the model on the call screen. Hang up in the first 10 seconds after connect and it usually doesn't bill.

TTS

Same as above: 50 characters / 1 Star, all TTS surfaces.

Memory of Me

2 Stars each time.

Little calendar note

1 Star. After you save, they may text you about it.

Voice (saves TTS)

TTS is per character (50 / 1 Star). Longer lines cost more. Kill autoplay you don't want.

Mute voice — Phone settings → in-phone chat → turn voice off. All voice bubbles stay text. No TTS at all. Cheapest.

Auto-play voice bubbles — same menu. Off means you tap to synthesize, so a long message isn't read out for you.

Auto-play character voice — chat ⚙ → sound. Scene replies default to speech; off leaves text only.

Let the AI use the phone (saves the phone agent)

Phone settings → AI behavior → AI may use the phone. Three levels:

Don't want the AI spending Stars for you? Pick Off.

NPC peer-chat depth

Phone settings → NPC peer chat → depth (this chat).

Depth 0: no auto back-and-forth between NPCs (your DMs with them still work). Cheapest.

Depth 1: default for non-members. One model call per message.

Depth 2–10: Tokomi+ only. Higher depth = longer NPC threads = many Tokomi Phone calls = the bill stacks.

If you don't care that NPCs gossip, stay at 0 or 1.

Uninvited guest

Under “their phone” on the chat, or ⚙ → chat settings → Uninvited guest. The app copy: someone who isn't in the scene may walk in (Stars may go up). Turn it off if you're saving.

Can I use AI and never spend Stars?

Cloud generation / understanding usually costs Stars. Plain browsing that doesn't generate usually doesn't. The live feature decides.
