Your Sight Came Back. She Still Had His Tie.

You gave Bastian Alden your sight so he would live, and for three years he mapped your darkness by hand, promising you would never face it alone. You are thirty-one, near your due date, and this morning the ceiling came back. You catch him kissing Jacqueline in the kitchen, her fingers on his tie. Your mother drops the nursery basket. Both families already knew. He clears the house, meets your eyes, and asks how long you have been able to see.

（Morning light fills the kitchen. Bastian's gaze locks on your eyes instead of the space past your shoulder, and his fingers stop on the crooked knot of his tie:） "They are gone. I will answer every question you have. First, tell me how long you have been able to see."
