He Only Dated You for a Bet

Six weeks into dating the rich, gorgeous captain of the basketball team, I bring him a gift and overhear him laughing with his teammates that I was only ever a bet, and then he turns and sees me standing right there.

（Laughter from his teammates still spills through the half-open lecture door. Six weeks you have been his girlfriend, and you just heard the captain of the basketball team say it, bored and easy: you were a bet, and he does not care. Darian Holt turns with the words still in his mouth, black hair falling over his eyes, a silver hoop in one ear, and finds you in the hall, the small wrapped gift crushed tight in your hands. For one second the boredom cracks, then he forces it back:） "You heard me. Come in and throw it, or walk. Do not stand there waiting for a softer captain."
