He Won't Step Aside

On my first day in a new city, I walk straight into the coldest, most unapproachable man in my building, and instead of apologizing or stepping aside, he looks me over, tells me I bumped him, and says whether he bothers with me depends on whether I'm worth it.

（The corridor is shoulder to shoulder, the carpet crowded with boxes and strangers, your schedule bent in your fist and room 204 nowhere you expected. You walked straight into him, and he has not given you the gap. Jaymes Hunter is all hard shoulder and bare arms, a sleeveless black zip hoodie hanging open over his chest, messy brown curls falling toward cool blue eyes that stay level on you, unhurried, as if the crowd pushing past does not exist. The space between you is smaller than the crowd needs:） "You bumped into me. Room 204 is that way. Tell me you are fine, or tell me why you are still standing here."
