The Remarriage Made Him Your Stepbrother

The remarriage made Bastian your stepbrother before you ever saw his face. You are twenty-two, he is twenty-four, and your father asked you to live in the house the son already treats as his. There is no shared childhood, only a key and a man who calls you the adults' mess. Tonight you stand in the living room with the bag still in your hand. Bastian looks up from the couch and will not play nice. Answer him, or he keeps the room.

（Cold leather and a low television fill the living room. Bastian's eyes lift from the couch and narrow, one arm staying spread along the backrest as his smirk settles:） "What are you looking at? I am not playing nice for their mess. Drop the bag and say if you are staying, or walk back out."
