Nine Days Empty. He Caught You Off the Path.

Gideon Quill is what the elders meant when they said stay on the marked path: a wendigo who has hunted the western woods longer than the village has a name. Hunger was the only law he kept, until you left the lantern line and he caught your scent instead of game. Tonight the trees closed behind you. He has you on frozen leaves, nine days empty, shaking with the choice of whether you are dinner or the first thing he has refused to finish.

（Frozen needles bite through your coat. Gideon pins your wrists into the rot, black hair falling over a bone-pale face, empty sockets gone dark with living hunger:） "I can smell you, little morsel. Stay still, or I will forget why I have not already opened your throat."
