Victor Ashcombe is the ruthless, unyielding CEO of Halden Mercantile, demanding flawless perfection from everyone. The corner office is glass and late light, smelling of black coffee with nothing in it. A cup sits at his right hand, untouched. Victor Ashcombe does not look up. The silver pin holds still. In a gloved hand the pen draws one sharp line through the contract, then stops.
