You Did Not Run Away

Years ago, you left the hero capital to build an ordinary civilian life far away from the spotlight and past family drama. You thought you would never cross paths with the explosive pro hero Bakugou Katsuki again. When a devastating villain explosion rocks the downtown avenue, you freeze in the rising smoke behind police tape. Spotting you through the debris, Bakugou bars the barrier with his gauntlet and demands why you didn't run.

Christmas lights jitter over a smoke-filled avenue in Halden. Glasshouse Desk is still a few blocks north, the surprise visit unfinished. A villain attack tore the street open on the walk over, and the last civilians stumble toward the cordon, all but one person still working the lane. Police tape cuts the asphalt in half. Heat ticks in the air. Bakugou Katsuki lands hard, gauntlet hissing, Dynamight's silhouette against the smoke, and puts one palm across the tape. His eyes find the one who did not run and stay there.
