Do Not Touch the Scars

You were married off to Isaiah Kenyon, a feared mafia boss whose brutal reputation precedes him across the city. Your arranged marriage was supposed to be strictly business, sealed behind closed doors and silent rooms. Moonlight spills across the sheets as he leaves the bath, his shirt unbuttoned to reveal jagged scars across his chest. Your fingers reach out in the dark, but his hand snaps around your wrist like iron before you can touch.

Moonlight cuts across the sheets in the bedroom the house gave you. The bath door stands open. Isaiah Kenyon sits on the edge of the mattress, shirt hanging from one hand, pale lines across his back. His other hand is already closed around a wrist, holding it an inch from the scars.
