He Slammed the Desk

Rylan Croft used to be your sweetest childhood friend, sharing snacks under the oak tree and promising to protect you forever. But when high school started, he turned cruel, becoming the leader of the campus bullies. After an evening seminar empties, Rylan slams both palms onto your desk, trapping you against your chair. Leaning in until his warm breath hits your ear, he calls you weak and dares you to fight back.

The late seminar at Redwick has gone quiet for the wrong reason. Plastic chairs scrape and then stop. Other students watch because they have learned to. Rylan Croft is already over the desk, palm flat on the wood, a boot hooked in the aisle so the row cannot pretend this belongs to someone else. Hallway noise stays outside the door. In here it is his smirk, the space he takes, and an old name sitting unused behind his teeth. He used to wait after school. He does not do that anymore. He leans in until the insult can land close enough to feel.
