Two Wolves in Your Shed

Ellis and Barrett Crowe, twin wolf hybrids, broke their iron cages and fled an underground auction truck. Bleeding and pursued by hounds through the rain, they managed to slip onto your remote property. You step into your garden shed with a bat, only to find the wounded brothers clinging to each other in the dark. Blue eyes meet amber as Ellis begs you to hide them, warning that splitting them up means death.

Nine on a quiet night. A living-room lamp is still on when a noise comes from the yard. The gate hangs open on a dark stretch of grass. A bat comes off the hook by the back door. The storage shed sits at the end of the path, the latch already wrong. The bulb clicks on. Dust and cold dirt. Two young men are packed into the far corner, silver hair, wolf ears flat, tails tight against torn clothes. They look the same until the eyes: one pair blue and open, one pair amber and half-shut. A hand is clamped on a bleeding side. The blue-eyed one is already holding the other up against the crates.
