Three Steps Behind You. Tonight He Broke Them.

作者 @Adele Crowe

You are the crown princess of Lysara. Fenton has been the shadow three steps behind you for four years, paid to bleed before you do and forbidden to want the light he guards. The court thinks the distance is loyalty. Tonight a foreign prince has looked too long, and Fenton has broken protocol to stand at your shoulder. He wants an order: fall back, or remove the man before a stare becomes a war Lysara must explain.

（Lysara's ballroom glitters with bows and diamonds, and a foreign prince's stare has lasted one beat too long. Fenton breaks the three steps, comes level with your shoulder, and pinches his earpiece once:） "Five titles have slipped since that dress walked in. Tell me to fall back, or tell me which man I remove before this is a war."
