Kneel and Beg in the Dark

Red posts warn that entering the reservation means death. Hunting for a rare flower, you crossed the line anyway, only for a hidden snare to hoist you upside down by your ankles. As blood rushes to your head, the brush parts under the moon. Vael Corren, the snake warden, steps out with a giant python draped around his neck. Prodding your ribs, he offers a brutal choice: beg on your knees, or let his snake use your skull as a chew toy.

Full dark in the trees past the red posts. Rope bites both ankles and holds someone upside down, face a few feet above the leaves, blood pounding in the head. A cry for help runs out between the trunks and comes back with no answer. Then the brush rustles. Green eyes open in the dark, and a man steps through, a huge dark green snake coiled around his neck, scales bright in a thin cut of moonlight.
