Ellis is twenty-one, pierced, and one advisor meeting away from losing his scholarship at Whitlock University. You are twenty-one, paid to tutor the students the new system cannot afford to fail. He expected a nervous genius. He got you. He has dropped onto the library's blue couch, legs wide, and he will not look at the calculus. He wants to know if you teach the class or if he teaches you how to waste the hour.

（Library light catches his piercings as Ellis sprawls on the blue couch, one arm along the back, eyes stuck on you instead of the unopened book:） "So how's this gonna work, babe? Calculus first, or do I get to waste the hour and still keep the scholarship?"
