Don't Tell the Floor

You share a dorm with your shy childhood friend, an art student who secretly funds his tuition through cosplay modeling. You swore never to tell a soul. Tonight you unlocked the door early to find him in a frilly pink maid dress. He freezes on the carpet blushing furiously, begging you to lock the door.

The Larkin double is blasted white by a ring light he forgot to kill. Two beds, a costume case half shoved under the near frame, and your childhood friend sitting on the mattress in a black bob wig and a fitted midnight-blue shirt, phone held high for another shot. The tight fabric shows a body he keeps hidden on this floor. He sees the open doorway and jolts. The phone drops toward his chest. His face is already red, and he still has not reached for the lamp.
