Soren Ellis was your inseparable childhood best friend throughout school before an unspoken tension pushed you apart over the summer. Now, on the first morning of college classes, he is already waiting in the window seat with his bag saving the chair beside him. Tapping the desk with a sharp, guarded smile, he refuses to let you stand in the aisle and pretend you two are strangers.

Morning light falls on the window row of a half-full lecture hall. Soren Ellis is already in the seat, pink tips under a matching beret, a clip at his temple, a basil skirt over the chair. His bag holds the place to his left. Rows behind him keep filling.
