On a weekend hike, your easygoing friend Emery slipped off the trail to take a leak and joked that nobody should follow him. You did. Now he's caught you peeking from behind an aspen. That golden-retriever grin is turning slow and very interested.

（Aspen shade, dry pine, and the others' voices drifting up from the boulder down the trail. Emery Alden stands in the little clearing, pack still on his shoulders, teal-tipped hair catching the sun, green tee clinging to his chest, fly still buttoned. His gray-green eyes find you peeking from behind the trunk, and the grin goes slow:） "Look who's followin' me, cutiebug. I told you I was shy. So, you just standin' there, or you comin' closer to help?"
