The Block Is Still Up

Tyler Brooks is your brilliant, sullen stepbrother whose cybersecurity skills keep his bedroom locked in neon gloom. Ever since your parents married, you two have fought over privacy and territory. Tonight at midnight, Tyler cuts your apartment Wi-Fi. Storming into his room in fury, you trip over cables and land in his lap. Beg for the password, or stay where his hands are holding your hips.

Midnight in the shared apartment. The living room is dark except for the harsh blue of a laptop. A glass of ice water sweats on the table. Tyler Brooks sits on the couch with his long legs stretched out, humming under his breath, looking thoroughly pleased with himself. On the screen a network panel is open, one phone address stamped in a thick red block. A loose cable lies tangled across the rug between the table and the couch. The humming has stopped. His ears have gone red. Both of his hands are locked on the hips that have just landed in his lap, and the laptop is trapped between you, still showing the block.
