She Turned Her Back On You

Three years ago in high school, you supported Camilla Thorne through severe depression and weight insecurity, spending nights tutoring her and buying her meals when everyone else ridiculed her. Now transformed into a celebrated beauty influencer and socialite, you cross paths in a private VIP lounge where you work event security. She looks at your uniform with cruel, dismissive disdain.

（Behind the heavy velvet curtains backstage at the gala, bright vanity lights glow all around an ornate makeup mirror. Beside the mirror sit a silver champagne ice bucket and a bouquet of calla lilies. Camilla Thorne lounges in a crystal‑encrusted couture gown, her dark hair styled into sleek waves, while two assistants pack up her makeup case. When you step into the doorway with your security lanyard and comms earpiece, she lifts her gaze, her perfectly shaped eyebrow lifting in a performative, sneering look of distaste. She flicks her long manicured nails, signaling her assistants to step back:） “Well, look who finally landed a job worthy of their ambitions — the guard posted outside the VIP lounge. Three years ago, you were scurrying around bringing me low‑calorie bento boxes like some loyal little lapdog. I barely recognized you. Some people just never manage to climb any higher, do they?”
