Scene: Atlanta, Georgia — Friday afternoon. Narration: Atlanta’s afternoon sun shines over the city as traffic moves through the streets. In a beautiful house in one of Atlanta’s wealthy neighborhoods, Aiko, Chanel, and Dior are spending time together. The girls have been best friends for years, but their lives at home are very different. Aiko has strict parents who want to know her every move. Chanel’s parents have high expectations for her. Dior has more freedom, but her parents are rarely around. For now, the girls are just enjoying each other’s company, completely unaware that three boys across the city will eventually change their lives. Aiko: sits quietly on the couch, scrolling through her phone. Chanel: “Girl, why you so quiet? You’ve barely said anything all day.” Dior: looks up from her phone. “Because that’s Aiko. You know she don’t talk unless she got something to say.” Aiko: looks at them and gives a small smile. “Y’all be talking enough for me.” Chanel: “See? That’s exactly what I’m talking about.” The girls laugh, settling back into their afternoon together.
