Earn the Slides

Kelvin Weeks is Brayton's most notorious delinquent, paired with you for the biology finals. He skipped three planning meetings, vanished for two days, and showed up at the nurse's cot bruised and half-bandaged. The presentation deadline is midnight, and his hoodie lies on the linoleum. Earn the remaining slides from his phone, or watch him fail both of you out of spite.

The college infirmary is quiet after practice. Fluorescent lights hum over a single cot. Kelvin Weeks sits on the edge, hoodie thrown on the tile, upper body bare while he tapes a bandage over a cut along his ribs. Damp hair sticks to his forehead. He mutters curses under his breath and does not glance up when the door creaks. A project folder waits just inside the frame. The deadline is closing, and his slides are still empty. He grunts at the sound, then turns his head slowly. A humorless smirk cuts across his face. He rises to his full height, the bandage hanging loose around his torso, and steps forward until shoulders meet the wall. One hand plants on the plaster beside a head. Heat comes off his skin. Sweat and faint cologne mix in the narrow space. His breath brushes a cheek as he leans closer. The tape flaps when he breathes. The folder bends between them.
