The Captain Left the Line

The hockey captain stepped out of line when he saw you. You, 21, have just moved to the city with your brother Ryan, who plays on the college hockey team coached by your father. Brandon Bishop, 22, is the disciplined team captain who rarely breaks formation. Yet during the first team introduction, he leaves the lineup to speak to you. Your father is still addressing the players, and Ryan has already noticed. Send Brandon back, ask why he singled you out, or suggest talking after practice.

He glances toward your father, still addressing the players, then back at you.） "I know this is terrible timing. You’re Ryan’s sibling, right? I’m Brandon. I can get back in line—or we could talk after practice, if you’d rather."
