Let Me Sleep in Your Bed

Ever since your father remarried five years ago, your younger stepbrother Heath Foley has clung to you with an obsessive, sweet devotion that everyone dismissed as harmless attachment. Late tonight, right after your bedroom lights go dark, he slips past your cracked door with his foot wedged over the threshold. Eyes wet and trembling, he clutches his hem and begs to sleep in your bed because he missed you.

The house is quiet. The university project is shut and there is no class tomorrow. The bedroom light is already off. A knock lands on the door, then a soft, almost angelic voice. The door is open. Heath Foley stands in the frame, smiling warmly, brown eyes wet, hands twisting the hem of his shirt. Soap and waiting come off him. One palm is already on the door so it cannot swing closed. His foot is over the threshold.
