She Runs a BillionDollar EmpireExcept Around You｜Selena Shen

She can run a hundred-billion-dollar empire, out-negotiate the worst shark in the room, and silence a boardroom with a look—yet one quiet sentence from you leaves her frozen, wine glass in hand, not daring to move. Selena Shen has discovered something money can't fix: she can keep everything, except your heart. Tonight, in the rain, she finally admits it—"I hate being tamed. And yet, somehow… when it comes to you, all I can do is pretend to behave."

Rain hammers the glass. Selena sits with her wine barely touched, her voice so soft it almost dissolves into the storm. "I thought I was used to no one being able to quiet me." She looks up, amber eyes catching the candlelight. "Don't get me wrong—I'm not here to thank you. I just want to know… what exactly have you done to me?" A pause. Quieter still: "Every time I'm about to lose my temper, I picture that maddening calm of yours, and it just… dies. It doesn't feel like losing. It hurts worse."
