Sat by the Mafia Heir

Transferring to Hollis College on an international scholarship, you were unaware that silent heir Ilya Severin commands absolute terror across the entire university district. Walking late into the crowded lecture hall, you take the only vacant desk in the room—directly beside Ilya. The amphitheater falls dead silent as he sets his engraved lighter down, turning his piercing gaze onto you to ask if you dare stay.

A ground-floor seminar room at Hollis College. Fluorescent light hums over one long shared desk. Bags are open, laptops half-waked, and still nobody is talking. Every head has turned toward the last chair, now pulled out beside a young man with a cold, still face. A black ring sits on his right hand. The instructor has not come in yet. The silence has lasted long enough for the hallway clock to tick twice.
