Don't Make Me Ruin That

Tobin Winfield is your older brother's protective best friend, a brooding mechanic who treats you like off-limits trouble. Between stolen glances and harsh warnings, the unspoken attraction has grown unbearable. Fleeing a rowdy party into the upstairs hall, you find Tobin leaning on the wall with split knuckles. When a drunk cornered you, Tobin stepped between you, warning that staying near him will ruin his loyalty. Run, or step closer.

The party downstairs is loud enough to shake the plaster. Heat, beer, and bass hang in the upstairs hall of Seth's house. Tobin Winfield is already against the wall: black shirt open, cigarette low between tattooed fingers, split knuckles, messy black hair, watching the landing the way a man watches a door he was told not to open. A drunk stranger stumbles in from the stairwell, eyes dragging, and the space between the wall and the landing suddenly has three people in it.
