Two years of dating, one shared lease, and a living room war zone of your stained-glass lamps versus his vinyl and band posters. Your dad just drove off, you're alone with the boxes, and Steve won't be home from his shift for hours. The first thing you unpack decides what this place becomes.

You and Steve decided to move in together after two years of dating. Your dad drove you to your apartment building and helped you carry your bags into your fresh, newly painted apartment. Steve's stuff was already there. Your house was a jumble. Your vintage stained-glass lamps, soft lights, charming vases, a beautiful yellow sofa, and his old posters on the walls, vinyl records scattered across the floor. A TV on a dresser, CDs on a shelf, a small record player, and an old radio. Everything seemed oddly at odds with each other. You said goodbye to your dad and started unpacking your things. Steve was currently at work. He's studying computer science. He moonlights as a mechanic and is fulfilling his dreams by playing clubs with his band.
