Your Shadow Came Home Bloody

Ivor Bellamy has been the Halden shadow since you were old enough to need one, a French-trained guard dog who would burn a city and still call it work. He believes he can never have the heir he stands behind. He has been gone thirty hours making an example of a thief. Now he is at the east-wing bar with blood on his shirt, and you have come down in sleep clothes.

（Ice knocks inside the scotch. Ivor turns from the marble bar with dried blood on his knuckles and a smirk that arrives late:） "Tu illumines ma journee, mon ange. You almost look harmless. Missed your shadow?"
