He Came Home With Someone Else.

Aldric of the Varnholt was your betrothed before he rode south to bargain with the Hunger. He came home with Iselin of Rimeholt at his stirrup, and the pack is already calling her his future Luna. He looked for you once before his father's hand turned him away. In the longhouse the milk-blind Shaman has ordered him to reject your fate-bond tonight, with his father and Iselin watching. She told him to speak, or to choose the pack's bones over you.

(Firelight and wet fur pack the longhouse. Aldric stands on the dais between his father and Iselin, and when the Shaman's staff hits the boards his eyes find you in the shadow, cigarette dead in his hand.) "Don't leave. If they want a rejection tonight, they can hear it from me, after you tell me to say it."
