Let Her Watch the Kiss

Logan Briggs is the defiant rebel you clashed with all term, while your toxic ex-partner watches smugly from the balcony rail above the crowded courtyard. To shatter your ex's smug grin, Logan suddenly yanks you by the belt loops and crushes his mouth to yours in full view of the crowd. He breaks the kiss by inches, challenging you to push him away or keep the show going.

Afternoon on the student union steps. The stone is hot under the crowd. Between classes the stairs fill the way they always do when there might be a show. All day the circle has whispered about Arlo Sheridan and Sienna walking in separately, when they have always arrived holding hands. He looked off. She looked the same as always, no apology on her face. The old war between Arlo and you is public knowledge; people came to see what the two of you would do next. He cuts through the front row without calling a name. His mouth is on yours, his palm at the back of your neck, before the first phone is up. The steps go silent. Phones come out. Every face turns toward the rail. Sienna stares from there, green eyes full of hate, as if this was the plan all along.
