Hadrian Irving collects what other men are too polite to ask for. Your parents left town with a number still open, and he decided the debt could walk on two legs. Tonight the street is empty except for lamps and two silent men. He finds you on the pavement like an old friend, loafers shining, smile warm, eyes cold. The money, he says, is now yours to produce.

（Streetlamps turn the wet pavement yellow and his two men stay back in the dark. Hadrian steps closer, loafers crunching, that warm smile never reaching his eyes as he takes one hand from his pocket:） "Hey, there you are. Your folks left you a bill. Show me what you have, or we take this talk somewhere quieter."
