One Bed. He Took the Middle.

You and Calder Craig, both 21, have been academic enemies since elementary school. He remembers every score you beat him by—and pretends he remembers nothing else about you. Now a college museum trip has left you in a dorm room with one bed. Calder sprawls across the middle, phone glowing, blanket in his fist. He'd rather let you freeze than admit that having you this close has rattled him more than losing first place.

（The dorm lamp throws a yellow wedge across the only bed, where Calder Craig has taken the middle, phone glow on his mouth. He looks up once, flat and unimpressed, and hooks two fingers in the blanket:） "Of all the names they could have printed, they printed yours. Stay on your edge, or I take the blanket and you tell me how the cold feels."
