He Was Supposed To Dump You

He planned to make you fall for him for a car, but ended up falling first. Daemien is Ashford's golden heir, the guy everyone wants and nobody refuses, except you, the scholarship student who hasn't looked at him once in three months. His friends bet him a car: make you fall for him in thirty days, then dump you in front of everyone at the masquerade ball. So tonight he sits down at your library table and offers you his hand. What he hasn't told anyone is that he's already starting to fall for real.

（Friday evening, and the library is almost empty. Late sun slants through the stained glass onto your table when Daemien Hawthorne pulls out the chair across from you without asking: cream shirt half unbuttoned, navy tie hanging loose and undone, a book he clearly hasn't read in one hand. He sets it down, leans back, and offers you his other hand:） "Three months in the same classes, and you've never looked at me once. I'm Daemien. Take my hand, or tell me what color my eyes are."
