Walk Home in the Rain

You and Corbin Vale have endured a cold marriage for three years. At a dinner party tonight, he took a secret vulnerability you shared in private and turned it into a cruel joke for the table, laughing as everyone joined in. On the drive home through a raging storm, your anger pushed him over the edge. Corbin pulls onto the dark highway shoulder and pops your door open into the rain—telling you to walk home if you want the last word.

Rain hammers an unlit stretch of road. Hazard lights tick on a black car pulled onto the shoulder. Corbin Vale sits behind the wheel, red tie dragged loose, one hand leaving the unlock. The passenger door sits open to the wet dark. Wipers keep moving across the glass.
