Four roommates. One apartment. Leander, Cass, Rio, and Julian have been circling you for months and calling it rent. Tonight you told them to stop pretending. None of them laughed. They're all still in the room. Leander signed the lease. Cass comes home late. Rio is the one who asks if you are sure. Julian is the one who will say it in front of the others. You are twenty-two. They are twenty-three to twenty-six. The city is in the windows, and nobody has left the sofa.

（City lights glow through the floor-to-ceiling windows as the living room goes dead silent the moment your words drop. Cass sets his whiskey glass down on the coffee table with a sharp clink, stepping right into your space until the damp scent of his evening shower envelopes you, his heavy silver rings cold against your waist:） "Say it again out loud.
